If there is a fire in the classroom or in the kitchen of a lab the children must leave the building/lab in an orderly fashion. 1st someone must open the door for the children to leave the room. No one should run or push and shove if they are trying to leave the room.

  3. Entering
    1. Put on a new HAIR COVER - Assure all hair is entrained under
bouffant. Hair net goes over the ears. (This will prevent stray hairs from
    being lost into the room.)
    2. Put on new BEARD/FACIAL HAIR COVER if you have facial hair.
    3. Put on non-powdered GLOVES. (Your skin, especially hands shed
    particles.)
    4. Put on new BOOTIES or dedicated cleanroom shoes – avoid walking
near the dirtier entrance area of the room.
    5. Put on a clean LAB COAT or COVERALLS * - Try not to let garment
touch the dirty floor. Button/zip all the way up. Use coveralls if you are
wearing shorts or skirt so that no skin is exposed.
    6. Enter cleanrooms A or B.
    * Lab coats may re-used up to four or five times if in good condition.
However, use new items if you plan to enter the ISO class 4 (class 10)
    cleanroom.
    Exiting
    1. Walk on exterior door side of bench only when exiting.
    2. If Lab Coat or Coveralls are in clean condition, they may be hung on the
“used clean lab coat” hooks. Do not fold them or put in bins. If the Lab
coat or Coveralls are dirty, worn or torn, wear it out of the gowning room
    and dispose of outside.
    4. Leave the gowning room gowned (with hair cover, gloves, and booties
on). Dispose of all items outside the gowning room.

In case of an fire break out at ASHN, here are some helpful steps on wat to do. First you pull the fire alarm;then everyone would evacuate the building as quickly as possible, they will evacuate to the front or back parking lot.

The proper safety procedure for ASHN is to exit the building immediately at the sound of the alarm. The proper procedure for FACS classroom and lab is to tell the teacher "Head Chef Instructor" immediately to get instructions on what to do next depending on what caused the fire.

When the fire alarm sounds, students should line up with their teachers. You will then go to your assigned area outside and stand in a single filed lined. You can enter the building when given the signal. The proper procedure for the FACS lab is for the students to evacuate the room. The teacher will put the fire out.

    Lab
1.You must remain in your designated module area. You are not to enter any other session unless instructed to do so.
2.Clean up must be started when instructed to do so, and is the responsibility of the students. Dismissal will be determined by clean up. Insufficient clean up will result in the loss of participation points the first time and cooking privileges the second time.

The proper procedure for the FACS classroom and lab is the fire Extinguishers . Fire is the most common serious hazard that one faces in a typical chemistry laboratory. While proper procedure and training can minimize the chances of an accidental fire, you must still be prepared to deal with a fire emergency should it occur . This document teaches you the basics about fire extinguishers - proper types, how to use them, when and when not to use them as well as the proper procedures to follow should a fire occur.

If your clothing is on fire (and the floor is not), STOP, DROP and ROLL on the ground to extinguish the flames. If you are within a few feet of a safety shower or fire blanket, you can use these instead, but do not try to make it "just down the hall" if you are on fire. If one of your coworkers catches fire and runs down the hallway in panic, tackle them and extinguish their clothing.

When a fire alarm goes off students are expected to form a single file line. Then they exit the building. If a fire were to break out in the lab, the students should evacuate and the person in charge should use the fire estinguisher to put out the fire.

science or chemistry laboratory can and should be a safe place to perform experiments. Accidents can be prevented if you think about what you are doing at all times, use good judgement, observe safety rules, and follow directions. Each experiment will include comments to alert you to probable hazards, including how to protect yourself and others against injury.

Eye protection (goggles or safety glasses) must be worn when working on experiments. Make a habit of putting them on before the experiment begins and keeping them on

The procedures for the FACS classroom and lab are: 1. Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in the laboratory.

    2. Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully. If you do not understand a direction or part of a procedure, ASK YOUR TEACHER BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE ACTIVITY.

    3. Never work alone in the laboratory. No student may work in the science classroom without the presence of the teacher.

    4. When first entering a science room, do not touch any equipment, chemicals, or other materials in the laboratory area until you are instructed to do so.

    5. Perform only those experiments authorized by your teacher. Carefully follow all instructions, both written and oral. Unauthorized experiments are not allowed.

    6. Do not eat food, drink beverages, or chew gum in the laboratory. Do not use laboratory glassware as containers for food or beverages.
    7. Be prepared for your work in the laboratory. Read all procedures thoroughly before entering the laboratory. Never fool around in the laboratory. Horseplay, practical jokes, and pranks are dangerous and prohibited.

    8. Always work in a well-ventilated area.

    9. Observe good housekeeping practices. Work areas should be kept clean and tidy at all times.

    10. Be alert and proceed with caution at all times in the laboratory. Notify the teacher immediately of any unsafe conditions you observe.

    11. Dispose of all chemical waste properly. Never mix chemicals in sink drains. Sinks are to be used only for water. Check with your teacher for disposal of chemicals and solutions.

    12. Labels and equipment instructions must be read carefully before use. Set up and use the equipment as directed by your teacher.

    13. Keep hands away from face, eyes, mouth, and body while using chemicals or lab equipment. Wash your hands with soap and water after performing all experiments.

    14. Experiments must be personally monitored at all times. Do not wander around the room, distract other students, startle other students or interfere with the laboratory experiments of others.

    15. Know the locations and operating procedures of all safety equipment including: first aid kit(s), and fire extinguisher. Know where the fire alarm and the exits are located.
